Fashion Week/Pret-a-Porter/Solar Flare Records/2015 Full Length Review

Fashion  Week  are  a  band  from  new  York  that  plays  a  mixture  of  noise  rock,  hardcore  and  grunge  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Pret-a-Porter"  which  was  released  by  Solar  Flare  Records.

A  very  distorted  reverb  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  more  of  a  raw  and  heavy  noise  rock  direction  along  with  some  clean  singing  vocals  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  vocals  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  aggressive  hardcore  style  screams  at  times.

You  can  hear  quite  a  bit  of  mid  80's  to  early  90's  elements  in  the  bands  musical  sound  and  some  of  the  tracks  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  very  melodic  sounding  solos  that  still  have  the  rawness  of  hardcore  and  grunge  and  some  of  the  tracks  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing  at  times  and  the songs  stick  to  mostly  a  slow  to  mid  paced  musical  direction  and  also  have  early  alternative  rock  influences  before  the  genre  went  mainstream  and  some  songs  also  use  a  small  amount  of  keyboards.

Fashion  Week  takes  the  mid  80's  and  early  90's  styles  of  hardcore,  noise  rock  and  grunge  and  mix  them  together  on  this  recording  to  create  a  sound  that  is  very  heavy  and  raw  yet  melodic  and  almost  radio  friendly  at  times,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  real  life  themes.

In  my  opinion  Fashion  Week  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  hardcore,  noise  rock  and  grunge  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Fendi  Bender"  "Summer  Line"  and  "Haute  topic".  8  out  of  10.
